Each plant in this batch is from an assorted mix, so the colour and form of your viola may differ from this photograph.
Violas produce abundant small flowers throughout spring and into early summer, typically in shades of purple, pink, blue and mauve, often with a contrasting eye or centre. They're easy to grow in full sun or partial shade, needing moist, well-drained soil. Deadhead regularly to keep flowers coming. Most violas are hardy perennials and will return the following year, though modern pansy hybrids are often grown as annuals. They suit borders, containers or ground cover equally well. Tolerate most soils provided drainage is good—waterlogging causes problems. Feed occasionally with liquid seaweed during the growing season. Watch for slugs and aphids.
