Rhododendron 'Getrude Schale' (Pot Size 3L)

Rhododendron ‘Gertrude Schale’ is a striking evergreen shrub known for its bold, saturated crimson-red flower trusses in mid to late spring. Each bloom is broad and slightly flared, with gently undulating petal edges and darker speckling in the throat, giving the flowers a velvety depth. When fully open, the rounded clusters create a powerful block of colour that commands attention in the garden.
The deep red tones contrast beautifully against its leathery, dark green foliage, which provides strong year-round structure. This variety is particularly effective as a specimen in acid borders or woodland-style planting, and it pairs well with white rhododendrons, pale pink azaleas, ferns and hostas to soften and balance its intensity.
Reliable and hardy across much of the UK, ‘Gertrude Schale’ delivers confident spring impact while maintaining an attractive evergreen presence throughout the seasons.
