Rhododendron ‘Cunningham’s White’ is a classic evergreen shrub treasured in UK gardens for its generous trusses of pure white, funnel-shaped flowers in late spring. The blooms often show a soft yellow or greenish eye, adding subtle warmth and contrast against glossy, dark green foliage that remains attractive all year. This hybrid has stood the test of time as one of the most reliable white rhododendrons, bringing calm elegance to both structured borders and naturalistic woodland plantings.
Its upright, dense habit works well as a standalone specimen, a structural backdrop, or part of mixed evergreen shrub beds. Pair ‘Cunningham’s White’ with acid-loving companions such as camellias, heathers and ferns to create a layered spring and summer display. In a container with ericaceous compost, it also makes a striking patio feature.
