THE FINER DETAILS

Product details

Persicaria odorata, known as Vietnamese coriander or rau ram, is a tender subtropical perennial grown for its aromatic leaves used throughout Vietnamese, Thai, and Southeast Asian cooking. The pale green leaves feature a distinctive dark maroon chevron marking and deliver a peppery, lemony flavour that intensifies rather than fades when cooked.Use young leaves fresh in pho, spring rolls, and curries, or add them to soups and stews where their robust flavour holds beautifully. Unlike traditional cilantro, most palates find the taste palatable and pleasant even after cooking. In the UK, grow in a warm, bright location with full sun or partial shade. The plant requires consistently moist soil enriched with compost, but dislikes waterlogging. Water daily during the growing season-the herb wilts quickly if allowed to dry out. It thrives in temperatures between 20-32°C. Before the first frost, bring potted plants indoors or take cuttings to propagate fresh plants for spring. The herb propagates readily from cuttings rooted in water or moist compost.
