Hand crafted in the UK. Stunning attention to detail. Towering 7.6-inch king. Solid crushed stone resin pieces. Heavy, well-balanced set. This incredible crushed stone resin set is overflowing with character, as well as being the largest chess set that we offer! With a towering 7.6-inch high king, it doesn't get much more eye-catching than this! The tales of Reynard the Fox are some of the oldest literary traditions in the Western world - even Geoffrey Chaucer based some of his writing on them. Reynard, the Fox himself, ties the various tales together, which comprise beasts satirically taking the places of various classic human character tropes. These humorous tales have proven so popular that the word 'Renard' has replaced the word for fox in French. Whilst cowardly and self-seeking, Reynard himself is a sympathetic hero and a strikingly accurate mirror of the human condition. The master craftsmen at Berkeley Chess in Somerset, UK, have developed these beloved and charming characters into this wonderful chess set, finished with a deep cream and cardinal red colouring.
