THE FINER DETAILS

Product details

The King Anthurium is prized for its spectacular sculptural foliage, with glossy, leathery, deeply veined dark green leaves that develop pronounced corrugated texture as the plant matures. A slow-growing epiphytic aroid, juvenile plants begin with heart-shaped leaves in bronzy tones before transitioning to the iconic rich dark green. Indoors, mature plants typically reach 1.5-2.5 metres tall over time. Pale green spathes with cream to pale pink spadices may appear during summer, though the ornamental focus remains the exceptional foliage. Thrives in bright, indirect light with high humidity levels of 60-80%. Requires moist but well-drained acidic potting mix (peat-free ericaceous compost, perlite, and orchid bark). Maintain temperatures above 18°C year-round. Water freely during growing season and fertilise fortnightly with orchid feed spring through autumn; reduce watering in winter. Watch for scale insects, mealybugs, and root rot. Toxic if ingested.
